Project Description
Weeks 4-6 First Trimester
I am only 4 weeks old, and the size of a small pea. Right now God may be the only one who knows I exist. My first 12 weeks I am called an embryo, changing from a ball of dividing cells to a flat disc shape. My umbilical cord is forming to become my lifeline between my mommy and me. By week 6, my embryonic disc has folded into a cylinder and developed a head and a “tail.” My primitive heart, shaped as a tube in a loop, begins to beat and blood cells circulate through tiny blood vessels.
